City of Ubuntu is committed to empowering social actors through capacity-building initiatives. In line with this mission, and to mark Labor Day, City of Ubuntu organized a special training session in Ankara design in collaboration with Seed of Value (SOVA)

A Colorful Collaboration

The training took place on May 31st, in partnership with Devine Touch Design, a creative arm of SOVA. This marked the second edition of our collaboration, following a first successful session held on March 22, 2025.

Bringing together both teenage girls and an older participant in her fifties, the session fostered intergenerational learning and creativity in a welcoming and dynamic environment.

Hands-on Learning and Artistic Expression

Over the span of 10 hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with regular breaks for rest and connection, participants explored how to personalize fashion accessories or give a second life to used items using vibrant Ankara fabric.

The workshop was not only about learning techniques—it was a moment to express identity, build confidence, and explore new opportunities. Each participant left with the pride of having created something with her own hands, and the inspiration to go further.

Lasting Impact Through Community and Follow-Up

The feedback at the end of the day was overwhelmingly positive. Many participants expressed how satisfied, inspired, and motivated they felt. But the experience didn’t end there.

A WhatsApp group was created to continue the learning journey. Through this platform, participants regularly share their creations, ask questions, and encourage one another, applying the skills gained during the session in real time.

This growing community reflects the success of the initiative: it is not just about training, but about building a network of creative women who support each other beyond the classroom.
