Ubuntu Journey
The second Ubuntu trip took place under the motto “The pre-colonial administration in Cameroon”
Foundation of the association
The creation of City of Ubuntu as an official association took place almost simultaneously in Cameroon and Austria. These two sister associations work closely together, but are independent associations under their respective national laws.
Acquisition of land II
The chief of the village of Sanki, which is next to the City of Ubuntu site, is convinced by our project. That's why he offered to sell the adjacent land at a good price, so that we could continue to support our activities. We were thus able to extend the land to 27 hectares.
First Ubuntu Journey
In July 2022, young people from the Piarist parish of Maria Treu (Vienna) visited the Ubuntu City, where they met young people from Mexico and Cameroon.
Well
Thanks to a generous donation, there has been a drinking water fountain on site since 2022, which is also available to the public.
First House
In 2022, we built the first community house in Ubuntu City. This simple, brick hut is serving as housing for our farmers. This construction project is the first step in a series of buildings that will make up the City of Ubuntu.
Legal assistance
We have registered over 200 children without birth certificates in the village, and we are working with the judicial authorities to ensure that they obtain birth certificates so that they can access education and their civil rights.
Supporting the local population
Supporting the local population is one of our main committments. This year, we organized a tent and chairs so that the local population could hold their meetings in better conditions, and also to facilitate the logistics of the training courses.
Agriculture
The second achievement was the introduction of farming and animal husbandry. We grew food crops vital to the population (corn, beans, manioc, etc.) and medicinal plants useful for health. We began raising livestock (sheep and chickens) using local methods.
25 Bee Hives
The first achievement on these lands was the installation of 25 beehives for the production of natural honey. Bees are both a symbol of excellent teamwork and a key element in the protection of nature and biodiversity.
Land acquisition
The beginning of the “City of Ubuntu” story is even further in the past, but the acquisition of land in Cameroon is the first step in making the vision a reality.
