This May marks a major milestone for City of Ubuntu with the official launch of its brand-new program dedicated to young people: City of Ubuntu Youth.

An Initiative Rooted in the Ubuntu Vision

The call for applications, launched in early April, drew the attention of many motivated young individuals. By early May, 13 candidates had been shortlisted, 12 were interviewed, and 11 enthusiastic participants attended the kickoff meeting.

City of Ubuntu Youth is more than just a group—it’s a community of engaged youth who are being trained, supported, and empowered to build their skills, gain experience, and make a positive impact in society through social initiatives.

A First Meeting Full of Energy and Purpose

During this first session, each participant introduced themselves, sharing their background, passions, and reasons for joining the CoU Youth movement.

After a brief presentation of City of Ubuntu and the vision behind this youth initiative, the group dove into a brainstorming workshop focused on identifying key social challenges they could address together.

One issue quickly stood out: youth unemployment.

First Project: Boosting Professional Visibility on LinkedIn

To tackle this challenge, the group’s first concrete action will be to help each member create a strong and professional LinkedIn profile.

This project aims to:

  • Increase the visibility and employability of each member;

  • Showcase their profiles across City of Ubuntu’s communication channels;

  • Expand the initiative to support other job-seeking youth in the community.

The project officially kicks off this June.

First Training: Digital Marketing

As part of the meeting, participants also shared their training needs. Digital Marketing emerged as the top priority for the group.

Our internal experts — Mégane, Phalone, Jordan, and Armel — are currently preparing a practical and engaging training session that will take place during our next meeting on June 25th.
